  • How do I get started with LFCC?
Contact us, and we will schedule a call to learn more about your family member. Based on that call, we can hold an in-person meeting to learn more about how we can help. We can make a recommendation on services that your loved one can benefit from.
  • How are the services paid for?
Some clients have IRIS dollars/funding, and others may use private payment. Some participants may use a combination. However, LFCC cannot take private payment on top of the payment provided by IRIS for the same service. Many people ask this question about Rad Respite events. There are usually 8-10 outings per month. Typically, people will add 4-5 outings per month to their IRIS budget. If there is not enough room in your loved one's budget, they can still attend an event, covering the cost with private pay. Regardless of whether or not IRIS is covering the event, the participant will still need to cover any incidentals like food. The amount required differs for every event and is listed in the event description below the Rad Respite calendar.
  • What is the difference between Daily Living Skills and Supportive Home Care?
Daily Living Skills and Supportive Home Care both focus on helping individuals with everyday tasks, but the approach is different. Living Skills is about teaching adults how to eventually take on these responsibilities by themselves. Think of it as giving them the tools and confidence they need to become more independent over time. Supportive Home Care, on the other hand, is more hands-on. The focus here is on providing direct help with these tasks, but it’s not just about doing everything for the participant. It’s about encouraging the person to be part of the process—whether that’s folding laundry together, helping prepare a meal, or tidying up. It’s a great way to support them while still promoting engagement and participation in their daily routines. Both services aim to empower individuals, but the two different services are tailored to meet people where they are in their journey toward greater independence.
  • How do I know if my family member is safe with LFCC?
We take a number of steps to ensure that their staff and volunteers come from reliable, trustworthy backgrounds. 1. Comprehensive Background Checks: We require thorough background screenings that may include criminal record checks, and identity verification. This process helps confirm that there are no past incidents or issues that could put vulnerable individuals at risk. 2. Reference and Credential Verification: We ask for references from previous employers, volunteer coordinators, or other professional contacts. We also verify relevant credentials and certifications—ensuring that the person has the proper training and experience in working with individuals with special needs. 3. Rigorous Interview Process: During interviews,we assess not only the technical skills and experience of the candidates but also their personal qualities, values, and passion for the work. This helps determine if the candidate is both qualified and genuinely committed to providing respectful, compassionate support. 4. Mandatory Training and Ongoing Education: Even after hiring, support staff usually participate in regular training sessions focused on best practices for supporting individuals with special needs. This continuous learning ensures that staff stay informed about the latest strategies in care and uphold our standards of conduct. 5. Clear Policies and Codes of Conduct: We establish strict policies, including ethical guidelines and codes of conduct, which every staff member must agree to. These policies are designed to protect both the people receiving support and the overall integrity of the service. 6. Supervision and Performance Reviews: Regular supervision and periodic performance reviews are in place to monitor the quality of support provided. This oversight helps catch any issues early and ensures that all staff members continue to meet the high standards required to work with vulnerable populations. By implementing these measures, LFCC works hard to create a safe, supportive environment for individuals with special needs and give families and caregivers confidence in the care their loved ones receive.
